Ectobuilder needs your Ghost keys to publish. Here's how we look after them.
Encrypted with AES-256-GCM
Every key and token is encrypted before it's stored, in a table only our server can read.
Never in your browser
The editor sees only the first characters of a key. Ghost calls go through our server, after it checks the theme is yours.
Locked to one theme
Each key is sealed to the theme it connects, so a copy anywhere else can't be decrypted.
You stay in control
Disconnect and the key is deleted. Regenerate it in Ghost and the old one stops working at once.

Is the Free plan really free?
Yes. You get the full editor, every section and every gallery theme for up to 3 themes, with no card needed. You only pay when you want to put a theme on a live Ghost site.
What's the difference between a theme and a site?
A theme is a design you build in Ectobuilder. A site is a Ghost install you publish it to. Pro publishes to 3 sites, Studio to any number, and you can build as many themes as you like on either.
Does it work with my Ghost hosting?
Almost certainly. Ectobuilder makes a standard Ghost theme that works on Ghost(Pro) Publisher and higher, on managed Ghost hosts that allow custom themes (PikaPods, Magic Pages Pro) and on your own server. Publish it in one click, or download the .zip and upload it in Ghost Admin. The one exception is Ghost(Pro) Starter: it only allows Ghost's official themes, so you can build and preview here but need Publisher or another host to go live.
What happens if I cancel?
Themes you've published keep working on your Ghost sites; editing and publishing stop at the end of your paid year. Since you can build and preview everything for free first, payments aren't refundable once a plan starts, unless something on our side stops it working.
Is tax included?
Prices are in USD and include tax, except in the US, Canada and India, where sales tax is added at checkout. Billing is handled by Polar.
